Grandparents Day
Last term we welcomed our grandparents for a special day of connection and appreciation. The children presented a short performance, enjoyed light refreshments and spent meaningful time with their loved ones. It was a heartwarming moment that celebrated family and belonging.
Holi Celebration
Our children learned about Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colours. The festival marks the arrival of spring and celebrates the triumph of good over evil. Through stories and discussion, learners explored traditions like throwing coloured powder, sharing food and expressing forgiveness. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with global cultures and traditions.
Arise and Shine Kids Centre
Thanks to the generosity of our families, we collected 2600 Easter eggs for donation to the Arise and Shine Kids Centre in Regents Park. The Centre supports young children from toddlers to Grade 00 and also offers aftercare and homework support for older children.
They provide daily meals and a safe environment for learning and play. Many children at the Centre come from difficult home circumstances and this contribution is one way we can help extend care and joy to others. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Term 2 Extra Murals Commence
The new term began with a strong turnout for our extra mural programme. With 13 Netball teams and 16 Soccer teams participating in league fixtures, it is encouraging to see learners showing commitment and enthusiasm. The season ahead promises to be an active one. We wish all our players success and enjoyment.
Munchkins Meet Up
Our Grade 1 and Grade 7 learners kicked off the term by teaming up for a creative morning of arts and crafts. These cross-grade activities build connection and cooperation across the school and set a positive tone for the weeks ahead.
Basketball Victory at National Championship
Congratulations to Alexis Accone in Grade 10 who represented the Gauteng U16 Basketball team at the National Championship in Durban from 31 March to 2 April 2025. The Gauteng squad remained undefeated throughout the round robin stages and went on to win the final match against Western Cape.
The tournament was streamed on the SuperSport Schools app. Alexis played a key role in the team’s success, and we commend her on this outstanding achievement.
Chess Success on the National Stage
Hannah Deysel in Grade 9 and Kaleb Deysel in Grade 8 qualified for the South African Junior Chess Championship held in Somerset West. This invitational tournament features the top players in the country.
Kaleb scored 6.5 out of 9 and placed fifth in his category while Hannah scored 6 out of 9 and placed seventh. Kaleb now qualifies to represent South Africa at the Africa Youth Chess Championships the World Youth Chess Championship and the Commonwealth Games.
Hannah also qualifies for the Commonwealth Games and may be selected for further international competitions depending on final placements.
Both players trained extensively in the lead up to the tournament including playing eight hours of chess daily for a week against university students. This level of commitment is commendable, and we are proud of their success.
Blood Drive Peer Promoters
Our peer promoters began their training for the 2025 Blood Drive campaign. In the first session held on 10 April students explored the reasons behind blood donation and the role they will play in raising awareness within the school community.
They learned about the ongoing need for donors and will be encouraging eligible individuals to participate in upcoming drives.
