Reading Gives Hope
On Saturday, our campus was bursting with giggles, colour, and creativity as we welcomed our little ones and their families for a magical Reggio Emilia Family Day.
Together, we journeyed through six enchanting stories, each one brought to life with fun, hands-on activities – from painting and crafting to dressing up and dreaming big!
A big thank you to all our amazing families who shared in the joy of storytelling – where every page turned sparked imagination, connection, and pure childhood wonder.
Outdoor Exploration: #Grade0000 Looking for Animal Homes
As part of their inquiry into animals and where they live, the children set off on a nature walk around the school playground to look for signs of animal homes.
With eager eyes and curious minds, the children searched under rocks, around trees, in the grass, and near bushes. They discovered holes in the ground, spider webs, ant hills, and nests in trees. These real-life discoveries led to thoughtful questions like,
“Who lives here?” and “Why do they make their homes there?” This sensory-rich experience encouraged observation, wonder, and early thinking skills as the children made connections between animals and their environments. It also helped them become more aware of and respectful toward the living creatures that share our space.
Thank You for Joining Our IB Parent Workshop
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the parents who attended our recent IB Parent Workshop – your presence, curiosity, and support made the day truly meaningful.
Throughout the day, parents explored interactive stations aligned with key IB elements – from Learner Profile Attributes and STEAM to Visible Thinking Routines, Rotations, Approaches to Learning, and our Innovation Station.
It was a hands-on experience showcasing how the IB framework nurtures student growth, creativity, and critical thinking.
Here’s what some of our parents had to say when asked W.W.W. (What Went Well):
"Everything!! What an awesome day."
"Very informative and brings subject matter to life."
"Understanding how lessons are structured and how to build my child’s thinking."
"Well organised and interesting."
"How they give students an opportunity to think and give input into their work before giving the prescribed content."
Save the Date – Our next IB Parent Workshop will take place on 23 August 2025. Invitations will go out in Term 3 – we can’t wait to welcome you back for another inspiring session.
Thank you once again for your ongoing partnership in learning!
Spotlight on Talent! - Phatsimo Msomi
A huge congratulations to Phatsimo Msomi, our shining #Grade5 star, on being cast in the beloved stage musical, Matilda!
We are bursting with pride to announce that Phatsimo has earned a role in this iconic production, based on Roald Dahl’s timeless classic. Her incredible talent, passion, and dedication to the performing arts have truly paid off - and we couldn't be more thrilled!
Catch her on stage at the People’s Theatre from 10 June to 27 July as she brings magic, mischief, and heart to the stage.
Phatsimo, your Crawford family is so proud of you! Keep shining – you were born for the spotlight.
Racing into Victory
A massive congratulations to our talented #Grade11 student, Oratilwe Phiri, who took on Killarney International Raceway in Cape Town recently – and what a performance it was!
"It was my first time racing at @killarney_internationalraceway – and it was one for the books!" After days of learning, improving, and prepping, he qualified 1st in class and 3rd overall with an impressive lap time of 1:13:422.
Race 1 saw him take the class win and finish 3rd overall. Then came the rain – and his first-ever 600cc wet race. "After two laps, I was leading the race with the 1000ccs chasing me… but I high sided on Turn 4." Despite the setback, he jumped back on the bike, finished the race riding with one hand, and still secured 3rd in class – taking 1st overall for the weekend.
"Thank you to @lumiracing2025, the dedicated race team, and a special shout-out to Crawford International Ruimsig, I’m so grateful to my school for always supporting my racing aspirations." said Oratilwe.
We are so proud!
A Meaningful Visit to Flora - Compassion in Action
A group of our College Crawfordians recently embraced the opportunity to visit Flora, a sanctuary dedicated to healing broken souls - both human and animal. This special place offers visitors a moment of reflection, whether through walking dogs or spending quiet time with playful kittens.
The visit served as a powerful reminder of the silent suffering many animals endure. Their stories are often unseen, their pain unheard, yet their lives are deeply affected by human actions. As shared by Patience Macheka, "Just because they don’t have a say, doesn’t mean they should be mistreated or ignored."
We are proud of our students for showing empathy, kindness, and a willingness to connect with those who need it most. Experiences like these not only teach compassion but also encourage us to challenge narrow perspectives and embrace a more humane outlook.
BE A HUNGER HERO
Let’s turn empty jars into bottles of HOPE!
Crawford International Ruimsig proudly supports an inspiring initiative led by our very own Grade 10 student, Nuha Minty, who aims to collect and fill 200 jars with nutritious dry ingredients for those in need.
