World Bee Day
This year, under the theme "Bee inspired by nature to nourish us all", the World Bee Day celebration highlighted the vital role of bees and other pollinators in ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation and food security and nutrition.
Africanarra 2025 – A Celebration of Culture and Connection
Crawford International Sandton Pre-Primary proudly participated in Africanarra, an exciting initiative inspired by Reggio Emilia Africa and celebrated for the first time at our school. This joyful event will now become a cherished annual tradition, fostering learning, storytelling, and community spirit.
We were thrilled to welcome our friends from St Teresa’s Convent School Coronationville for a magical day of playground fun, delicious snacks, and enchanting storytelling. Each child left with a full lunchbox, a happy heart, and special books generously donated by our amazing parent community.
Here’s to building bonds, sharing stories, and creating a brighter future together!
World Environment Day
To celebrate World Environmental Day, we helped our earth by planting Spekboom cuttings into biodegradable pots made from newspaper or toilet rolls to get them ready for our very own little nursery, The Spekkie Patch. These little babies will help absorb 1.5 tons of Co2 each year. Once the plants are ready, we will move them into the ground where they can thrive. Spekboom is a special plant because it helps clean the air by absorbing carbon dioxide, and it grows well with very little water. By planting these cuttings, we are learning to care for nature and make a real difference to our planet, one little Spekkie at a time.

A very special thank you to the Grade 3 teachers who presented a thoughtful assembly on being brave. The children were encouraged to reflect on Youth Day and the commemoration of this important historical day.
Mr Haigh was delighted with his special surprise, I think he is going to wear his snazzy new "empathy" shoes at the bridge tomorrow morning! This is not to be missed!
Congratulations to our classes who received this week's Dapper Duck. Grade 1 R, Grade 2 F and Grade 3 W! Our ducks look very dapper indeed.
Well done to our students who received the "Ducks in a Row" certificates this week: Thea in Grade 1, Mi Tang in Grade 2and Alyaana in Grade 3.
A very special shoutout to Zeddaya Ramsunker who took part in the SOLO Verse competition and was the only child in her group who received Prestige +. The adjudicator mentioned that it is not easy to receive such an award. We are very proud of the way Zeddaya presented herself.
Our sincere apologies to Artin. His photo was unfortunately left out of last week’s newsletter, but we are pleased to feature him in today’s edition.
Happy International Yoga Day
Today, we celebrate the harmony of mind, body, and spirit.
Recently, our enthusiastic preparatory students rolled out their mats and embraced the spirit of International Yoga Day right on our beautiful field!

Arts and Crafts Club Creates Heart-Shaped Magnets to Spread Kindness
The Arts and Crafts Club recently embarked on a heartfelt project, crafting colourful heart-shaped magnets using clay and paint. The students poured their creativity and care into making these charming tokens of kindness, turning their artistry into acts of generosity.
This engaging and hands-on activity was more than just a creative exercise, it was an opportunity to give back to the school community. Once completed, the heart magnets were donated to the school's Random Acts of Kindness Board, where they will be shared to brighten someone's day and foster a spirit of love and positivity throughout the school.
Ms Botha, the Visual Arts Teacher, expressed her pride in the students' efforts, praising their beautiful work and generous spirit. A big thank you to all the students who participated in this meaningful project, demonstrating how art can inspire kindness and connection within the school community.
