More Than Just Blocks
In Grade 00, block play and construction are more than just fun activities; they are powerful learning experiences that support a child’s development across many areas. Whether they're building towers, bridges, or imaginative cities, children are engaging in deep, meaningful learning. As they play, our young students are developing important problem-solving and thinking skills, learning how to plan, test ideas, and try again when something doesn't work.
They're also exploring early math and science concepts like balance, measurement, shape, and cause and effect, all through hands-on discovery. Block play naturally encourages collaboration, as children share materials, negotiate roles, and work together to bring their ideas to life. At the same time, they're strengthening their fine and gross motor skills as they stack, connect, and construct. Most importantly, block play builds confidence and creativity, allowing children to express themselves, take risks, and feel proud of what they’ve built.
We love watching the magic happen when our students are given the time and space to build, not just with blocks, but with big ideas and bright imaginations!
Honouring Youth Day Through the Arts
Our Grade 7 students from Crawford International Pretoria had the incredible opportunity to experience the powerful South African musical Sarafina! at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre in honour of Youth Day.
This unforgettable production, set during the 1976 Soweto Uprising, brought history to life through vibrant dance, electrifying live music, dramatic storytelling, and phenomenal performances. Sarafina! is more than just a show, it’s a moving tribute to bravery, freedom, and resilience. Watching it gave our learners a rich cultural and historical perspective, while celebrating the enduring spirit of South African youth.
Our students were absolutely captivated from start to finish, and the energy in the theatre was truly magical.
Young Voices but Big Impact
Our talented Grade 4–7 Public Speaking students took to the stage at a spectacular event hosted right here at Crawford International Pretoria and what a celebration of expression it was. Organised by the dedicated Mrs Croenewald, Head of Expression, along with her passionate Public Speaking team, the event provided a platform for our young speakers to shine.
Each student delivered their speech with confidence, clarity, and charisma, addressing topics that were not only relevant but deeply relatable. From everyday challenges to big ideas, their words resonated with the audience and reminded us all of the power of student voice. We are so proud of every participant for their courage and preparation. Public speaking is no small feat, and these students showed just how capable and inspiring they can be when given the opportunity.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Croenewald and the Public Speaking Staff for empowering our students and creating a space where every voice matter.
Inter Crawford Sport Festival 2025
Hosted by Crawford Pretoria at Camp Discovery
What an unforgettable 3-day celebration of sport, spirit, and unity in the heart of the beautiful bushveld! This year’s Inter Crawford Sport Festival brought together 8 Crawford International Schools from across South Africa for an exhilarating showdown of soccer, netball and hockey, and what a spectacle it was!
The festival kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony, complete with school flags, mascots, music and roaring spirit, setting the tone for what would be a truly inspiring few days. From thrilling matches to moments of deep sportsmanship, the event was a powerful reminder of what makes the Crawford family so special.
The camaraderie among players, the support from the sidelines, and the respect between schools were nothing short of outstanding. Thank you to Mrs Swanepoel, Mr Ryan Houbert and the Crawford Pretoria team for hosting this magnificent event and to every student, coach and supporter who brought their energy, heart, and passion. It was more than just a sports festival – it was a celebration of unity, excellence, and lasting memories.
