Clash of the Choirs
We are incredibly proud of our school for the colourful cultural activities that have been taking place recently. From music and dance to drama and art, the enthusiasm and talent displayed by our students have been truly inspiring. A special congratulations goes to Mrs. Peel and her FP Choir for their outstanding performance in the Clash of the Choirs – what a phenomenal achievement. Their dedication, hard work, and passion for music shone brightly and brought home a well-deserved win. Well done to everyone involved, your efforts continue to make our school a place of creativity, excellence, and community spirit.
Grade 1: Exploring the Magic of Patterns
Our Grade 1 students launched their new unit, The Magic of Patterns, with a fun and engaging nature walk. As young explorers, they set out to find patterns hidden in the natural world spotting them in flowers, leaves, and even the textures of tree bark. The excitement grew as they collected these patterned treasures to bring back to class. Back in the classroom, the students used their discoveries to create unique pattern art pieces, showcasing their creativity and growing understanding. To mark the occasion, each student was proudly awarded a Nature Detective badge, a special reminder of their pattern-hunting adventure and a wonderful beginning to this new u nit of inquiry.
Grade 3: A Journey Through the Solar System
Our Grade 3 Spacelings officially launched their new unit, How the World Works: Earth and Space, with an exciting virtual adventure aboard The Magic School Bus. They joined Mrs. Frizzle and her class on an educational journey through the solar system, discovering planets, stars, and the vastness of space. To make the experience even more enjoyable, students relaxed with a fun “popcorn and chill” session while watching the episode.
Grade 000: Enquiry into Emotions
As part of our enquiry into emotions, our Grade 000 students dove into the world of abstract expressionism through a case study on Jackson Pollock and his iconic splatter art. They were encouraged to step into the artist’s shoes, exploring how emotions can be expressed through movement, colour, and texture. Focusing on the powerful emotion of anger, the students created their own splatter paintings. Using bold strokes, energetic splashes, and vibrant colours, they found a safe and creative outlet to channel big feelings. This hands-on activity not only introduced them to a famous artist and a unique technique, but also supported emotional literacy by helping them recognise, name, and express their emotions through art. Through this experience, our young artists learned that art is a powerful tool for self-expression and sometimes, making a mess is part of the process!
Grade 00 World Bee Day
Our Grade 00s at Crawford International North Coast Pre-Primary were absolutely buzzing with excitement this World Bee Day as they turned their attention to some of the planet’s most important pollinators – bees! Dressed in the cutest bee-themed outfits, complete with stripes, wings, and even tiny antennae, our little learners embraced the day with joyful enthusiasm and endless curiosity. The celebrations were not only adorable but deeply meaningful, as they formed part of our ongoing efforts to build environmental awareness and foster a love for nature in our students from a young age.
Grade 0 One-to-One Correspondence
Our Grade 0s enjoyed participating in hands-on activities that reinforced the concept of one-to-one correspondence. In Munching Monsters, they excitedly flipped cards and fed their monster the correct number of items, practising careful counting and number recognition. During the Towers game, they rolled a dice and built towers using the corresponding number of blocks. These playful experiences made early maths learning both meaningful and memorable!
