Campus Sprayathon for CANSA
Recently, the Crawford International La Lucia campus proudly showed its support for those affected by cancer by participating in the annual CANSA Sprayathon. This meaningful initiative forms part of our ongoing commitment to community engagement and compassionate action.
Students across our Pre-Primary, Preparatory and College phases came together in a powerful show of solidarity, wearing their colourful spray-painted hair with pride. The event created a vibrant atmosphere on campus, while also encouraging important conversations around empathy, awareness, and standing alongside those facing difficult health journeys.
Through the generosity and enthusiasm of our school community, the campus successfully raised R23 000 in support of the vital care and support programmes provided by Cancer Association of South Africa. These programmes offer essential services to individuals and families affected by cancer, making a meaningful difference in communities across the country.
We are incredibly proud of our students for embracing this cause with such heart and commitment. Their willingness to participate reflects the values we strive to nurture, compassion, social responsibility and the understanding that even small acts can have a significant impact.
We extend our sincere thanks to our families, staff, and students for supporting this important initiative and for continuing to make a positive contribution beyond the classroom.
Pre-Primary
Have a Heart, Give a Sole
Crawford International La Lucia Pre-Primary celebrated Valentine’s Day as Friendship Day and decided that the “have a heart, give a sole” message spoke to helping those in need.
Our families collected five boxes of beautifully paired, pre-loved shoes for children and adults, which were donated to The Domino Foundation. These were then distributed to their local partners in Early Childhood Development Centres for those in need.
More than just shoes, this was a donation of dignity - sharing love, care, and respect with the local community.
Celebration of Colour
Little hands, big smiles and bursts of colour filled our classrooms last week as our Crawford International La Lucia Pre-Primary Grade 00 students celebrated Holi!
Inspired by the story “Holi Hai”, they explored how celebrations can be expressed through colour, pattern, and shape. The students mixed vibrant powders, created colourful patterns, and discovered how different colours and designs can tell a story.
Through playful exploration, they learned to notice, experiment and express themselves, seeing that everyone’s ideas and creations are unique.
This is learning at its brightest, where imagination, culture and creativity come alive.
Preparatory
Grade 1 Learning Journey
Our Crawford International La Lucia Preparatory Grade 1 families recently joined us for a joyful and colourful Learning Journey, celebrating the learning and self-discovery that took place during our PYP Transdisciplinary Unit, "Who We Are."
Inspired by the central idea, “Knowing about ourselves helps us understand ourselves and others,” students explored their unique qualities, strengths, feelings, and perspectives across a range of subjects.
A highlight of the afternoon was a special t-shirt painting activity, where parents and students worked together to transform their “I Am Special” booklets into wearable works of art - each one celebrating the individuality of every child.
It was a meaningful afternoon that reflected not only the learning that has taken place, but also the importance of celebrating who we are while learning to understand and appreciate others

Junior Choreo Evening

The evening was filled with energy, enthusiasm and creativity - highlighting the confidence and hard work of the young performers. It was especially interesting to see the wide variety of ideas, themes, and movement styles presented - with each performance reflecting the individuality of its choreographer.
Overall, it was an enjoyable and inspiring event that celebrated the talent and imagination of our Junior Dancers. Well done to all!
Hockey Festival
At the beginning of March, Crawford International La Lucia College proudly hosted our annual Hockey Festival. The event brought together 24 teams from across the region, with some schools travelling from as far as Port Shepstone and Richards Bay to take part in what proved to be an exciting and highly competitive weekend of hockey.
Over the two days, players and spectators were treated to a series of intense matches filled with skill, determination, and thrilling moments on the field. The festival showcased the talent and sportsmanship of all participating teams and created an energetic and supportive atmosphere throughout the weekend.
Our Crawford International La Lucia teams performed exceptionally well. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams finished second in their respective pools. Unfortunately, the tournament format allowed only for a final and did not include a semi-final round, meaning both teams narrowly missed the opportunity to compete for a place in the
