Our innovative and student-focused methodology is central to our teaching and learning, where the academic philosophy of THINK, UNDERSTAND and APPLY is the foundation. Future-focused skills are developed throughout each student’s learning journey.

Future-Focused Skills
Emphasis is placed on gross and fine motor, perceptual, cognitive, language and numeracy development. Thinking skills are honed, and students are encouraged to explore a variety of options when problem-solving to discover a workable solution. Through thinking routines, we teach our students to question and form opinions, which are expressed through:
- discussion and reflection;
- voice, choice, and ownership of learning
- drawing;
- painting and creating; and
- role play and dramatisation.
Personalised Learning Journey
Our holistic approach to education encourages our students to become fully rounded, unique individuals through a personalised learning journey.
Physical – Challenging outdoor experiences to enhance large muscle development, which is vital for future learning.
Social & Emotional – Our dedicated staff create a safe, nurturing environment where each student can develop confidence and social skills.
Intellectual – We follow the ISASA early development curriculum guidelines and extend beyond the national curriculum. Our students explore the three learning areas of Mathematics, Literacy and Life Skills through our concept-driven units of inquiry. Units of learning and the related conversations encourage our students to evolve as inquirers, both within and beyond the classroom.
Creative – We celebrate the arts through dance, drama, art, and music and consider them instrumental in building self-esteem and allowing students to express themselves.
Meaningful Play
We tap into our students’ unique abilities and talents, relying on their natural sense of curiosity and provoking their thinking through meaningful play opportunities and inquiry-based learning. Our students are encouraged to explore, discover, and experiment.
Sports, Arts & Culture
Qualified coaches help our growing students develop core physical skills, which are vital to enhance future learning. Our students are divided into small groups for these activities to ensure individual attention. The following programmes are incorporated into the school day and are included in the school fee:
- Grade 000 students see our physical developmental coaches twice a week.
- Grade 00 students attend one physical development lesson and one Gymnastics lesson a week. Our Gymnastics programme is run by a Springbok gymnast, and two other specialist coaches assist him in ensuring small groups and individual attention.
- Grade 0 students attend one physical development lesson and one Gymnastics lesson a week. They also attend an additional tennis and ball skills lesson. This sports programme introduces them to the basics of the sporting codes of cricket, soccer, athletics, and hockey.
Music and drama are an essential part of our programme and students attend two lessons a week with a specialist teacher. Art is used as a medium of instruction in the school, and we hold an annual art exhibition in Grade 0.
