Crawford International Ruimsig Pre-Primary

Crawford International Ruimsig Pre-Primary sits on a modern, open campus in the heart of Ruimsig, designed to support exploration and active learning. Our environment encourages curiosity and confidence, allowing students to engage with ideas and express themselves freely.

Learning is guided by a future-focused, student-centred approach that emphasises communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. Students develop independence, perseverance and reflective thinking through purposeful play and hands-on experiences.

Our Pre-Primary forms part of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme framework, providing an internationally recognised syllabus and preparing students for a smooth transition into Grade 1.

Future-focused Skills

Emphasis is placed on gross and fine motor, perceptual, cognitive, language and numeracy development. Through thinking routines, we teach our students to question and form opinions, which are expressed through:

  • Discussion and reflection
  • Voice, choice, and ownership of learning
  • Drawing
  • Painting and creating
  • Role play and dramatisation

A school readiness assessment is done on all our Grade 0 students with the additional optional support of hearing and eye tests conducted during the Grade 0 or Grade 00 school year.

Personalised Learning + Inquiry-Based Learning + Meaningful Play

Our holistic approach to education encourages our students to become fully rounded, unique individuals through a personalised learning journey.

  • Physical

Challenging outdoor experiences to enhance large muscle development, which is vital for future learning.

  • Social & Emotional

Our dedicated staff create a safe, nurturing environment where each student can develop confidence and social skills.

  • Intellectual

We follow the ISASA early development curriculum guidelines and extend beyond the national curriculum. Our students explore the three learning areas of Mathematics, Literacy and Life Skills through our concept-driven units of inquiry. Units of learning and the related conversations encourage our students to evolve as inquirers, both within and beyond the classroom.

  • Creative

We celebrate the arts through dance, drama, art, and music and consider them instrumental in building self-esteem and allowing students to express themselves.

We tap into our students’ unique abilities and talents, relying on their natural sense of curiosity and provoking their thinking through meaningful play opportunities and inquiry-based learning. Our students are encouraged to explore, discover, and experiment.

Sports, Arts & Culture

We motivate our students to try new pursuits by offering a variety of opportunities within and beyond the classroom. Qualified coaches support the development of core skills, which underpin confidence, coordination and future learning. Gross motor movement, dance, art and music are all incorporated into the school programme.

The Sporty Tots programme is included for all Pre-Primary students, offering weekly sessions that develop large and small muscle groups, coordination and core strength through playful activities.

Grade 0 and Grade 00 students also participate in school-based sports, including organised mini-tournaments and matches, helping them apply their skills in a collaborative and structured environment.

The following sports and cultural activities are also included in our school fees:
