Welcome to

Crawford International Fourways

Pre-Primary

At Crawford International Fourways Pre-Primary, learning is guided by curiosity and purposeful play. Students are encouraged to explore ideas, test understanding and build confidence through meaningful experiences.

The campus offers an integrated learning environment where students can express themselves across physical, creative and academic activities, including gross-motor development, swimming, digital literacy, art, drama and music. Teaching is grounded in a clear academic approach that values thinking, communication and collaboration, supporting strong standards from the earliest years.

We nurture each student’s confidence and self-esteem not only in the classroom but outside as well.

We trust in each student’s potential and we encourage students not only to think for themselves but to believe in themselves. We achieve this by implementing an approach that is caring, empathetic and recognises each individual’s needs. We aim to make every day exceptional and work towards maintaining excellence for each student in the classroom.

At Crawford International Fourways Pre-Primary, we equip students with the skills and competencies they need to succeed in a formal learning environment when they move to Grade 1. Our Pre-Primary forms part of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for children aged 3 – 12.

Our innovative and student-focused methodology is central to our teaching and learning, where the academic philosophy of THINK, UNDERSTAND and APPLY is the foundation. Future-focused skills are developed throughout each student’s learning journey.

Future-focused Skills

Emphasis is placed on gross and fine motor, perceptual, cognitive, language and numeracy development. Through thinking routines, we teach our students to question and form opinions, which are expressed through:

  • Discussion and reflection
  • Voice, choice, and ownership of learning
  • Drawing, painting and creating
  • Baking, drama and music
  • Role play and dramatisation

A school readiness assessment is done on all our Grade 0 students with the additional optional support of hearing and eye tests conducted during the Grade 0 or Grade 00 school year.

Personalised Learning + Inquiry-Based Learning + Meaningful Play

Our holistic approach to education encourages our students to become fully rounded, unique individuals through a personalised learning journey.

  • Physical

Challenging outdoor experiences to enhance large muscle development, which is vital for future learning.

  • Social & Emotional

Our dedicated staff create a safe, nurturing environment where each student can develop confidence and social skills.

  • Intellectual

We follow the ISASA early development curriculum guidelines and extend beyond the national curriculum. Our students explore the three learning areas of Mathematics, Literacy and Life Skills through our concept-driven units of inquiry. Units of learning and the related conversations encourage our students to evolve as inquirers, both within and beyond the classroom.

  • Creative

We celebrate the arts through dance, drama, art, and music and consider them instrumental in building self-esteem and allowing students to express themselves.

We tap into our students’ unique abilities and talents, relying on their natural sense of curiosity and provoking their thinking through meaningful play opportunities and inquiry-based learning. Our students are encouraged to explore, discover, and experiment.

Sports, Arts & Culture

We motivate our students to try new pursuits by offering a variety of opportunities within and beyond the classroom.
