Africa Day Celebrations at Crawford International Bedfordview
At Crawford International Bedfordview, our Africa Day celebrations were a proud reflection of African excellence, culture, and unity. The campus came alive with rhythm, colour, creativity, and celebration as students and staff gathered for a truly memorable morning assembly.
The celebration opened with Mr Bollweg sharing the importance of Africa Day, encouraging students to honour the continent’s rich heritage, diverse cultures, and the spirit of unity that connects us all.
The programme featured vibrant marimba performances by Crawford Cares, energetic gumboot dancing, and a lively Kizomba-inspired dance piece that captivated the audience. Students also showcased the beauty of African heritage through elegant Ethiopian and Eritrean fashion displays, celebrating the richness and diversity of cultures across the continent. A meaningful skit was also performed, highlighting the unity we should continue to strive for as Africans and reminding the audience of the strength found in togetherness.
Adding to the richness of the morning, staff member Ms Hlope recited one of her father’s published poems, sharing words that deeply resonated with the audience and honoured the power of African storytelling, legacy, and expression.
While the performances unfolded, Jason Gambanou created a striking live art piece, capturing the spirit and energy of the celebration in real time. His artwork became a beautiful symbol of creativity, unity, and African pride.
As the African proverb reminds us, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
The morning was a meaningful reminder of the power of community, heritage, and shared celebration.
At Crawford International Bedfordview, we celebrate Africa not only in song and dance, but in the pride, talent, and excellence of our students every day.

Bee Day at the Pre-Primary
Our preschool had a buzzing time celebrating Bee Day as part of our WESSA Biodiversity in Nature theme!
Students came dressed in cheerful black and yellow outfits and enjoyed fun activities while learning about the important role bees play in biodiversity.
We discovered how bees help plants grow through pollination and why they are essential for healthy ecosystems and food production. The children also explored ways we can protect bees and care for nature.
To end off the exciting day, students took part in creative bee-themed art activities and had lots of fun celebrating our tiny pollinator friends!
Grade 11 & 12 Business Excursion Critique by a Grade 11 Student – Zoey Elias
Our Grade 11 and 12 Business Studies excursion to Bossa Modderfontein was an informative and enjoyable experience. The visit gave us practical exposure to how a successful sit-down restaurant operates and how different departments work together to ensure customer satisfaction and profitability.
The front-of-house operations were well organised, and the staff demonstrated excellent customer service and professionalism. The kitchen tour helped us understand important business concepts such as stock control, workflow management, hygiene standards, and efficiency in food production.
The management team also communicated effectively during the Q&A session, showing strong leadership and teamwork skills.
The food service was efficient, and the burgers were fresh and well prepared. The restaurant facilities were clean, modern, and created a comfortable dining environment, which positively contributes to the customer experience and brand image of the business.
Overall, the excursion was educational, well planned, and gave us valuable insight into the hospitality and the restaurant industry.
