A Magical Night of Bedtime Stories
On Thursday, 29 May, from 17h30 to 18h30, the corridors of Crawford International Bedfordview transformed into a cozy haven for our Bedtime Stories event. This much-loved tradition brought together Grade 1 to 3 students for an evening filled with warmth, wonder, and the joy of storytelling.
Students and teachers alike arrived in their pajamas, adding a playful and comfortable atmosphere to the night. Flickering candles nestled in brown paper bags, carefully weighted down with sand, lined the corridors, casting a gentle glow that made the school feel like a magical storybook setting.
Every ten minutes, teachers rotated between classrooms, sharing beloved tales and sparking imaginations. This gave students a chance to experience different stories and voices throughout the hour. As one child shared, "It was fun because we got hot chocolate and the teachers read to us."
To make the chilly evening extra special, each student was treated to a warm cup of hot chocolate, a sweet ending to a delightful event. Another student beamed, "It was very nice and we got to see some of our friends in pajamas!"
Bedtime Stories was more than just an event, it was a celebration of community, creativity, and the simple joys of reading together. It’s moments like these that make memories to last a lifetime.
Celebrating International Success – Nhlanhla Pandelani Shines on the Global Stage
At Crawford International Bedfordview, we are deeply proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of one of our Grade 8 student, Nhlanhla Pandelani, who recently represented South Africa at the Mini Model World competition held in the Dominican Republic from the 8th to the 17th of June.
Nhlanhla's participation in this prestigious international event marked her first time competing on the global stage and what a debut it was! She returned home having been crowned 1st Runner-Up in the overall competition as well as being awarded the prestigious title of Top Model Award. These accolades are a testament to her poise, confidence, and outstanding representation of her country and school.
Beyond the stage and the spotlight, Nhlanhla’s achievement carries a deeper significance. It reflects her courage to dream big and step into unfamiliar territory with grace and determination. Her success resonates far beyond the runway, it is a proud moment for our school, our community, and our country.
Nhlanhla has since gained national recognition for her success, and has been invited to share her journey on national news platforms, offering inspiration to young South Africans across the country.
We commend Nhlanhla not only for her accomplishments, but for the humility, commitment, and responsibility she continues to show toward her academic obligations. The school will continue to support her in catching up on any missed academic work during her time abroad, ensuring she remains on track with her studies.
Congratulations, Nhlanhla! You have made the Crawford Bedfordview family incredibly proud. We look forward to seeing your journey continue to unfold.
International Bike Day – Pre-Primary Style
On Wednesday, 5 June, our preschoolers celebrated International Bike Day with great excitement and joy! The children were thrilled to bring their own bicycles, scooters and balance bikes to school and proudly showed them off to their friends. Our parking lot was transformed into a mini traffic training zone, complete with stop streets and robot signs, creating an authentic and engaging learning experience. Through hands-on play and exploration, the students learned about road safety and traffic awareness. They discovered the meaning of red, orange and green, understanding when to stop, slow down and go. They practiced being caring and responsible by stopping and looking out for others. Even our headmaster, Mr R, joined in on the fun, hopping onto a bike and taking a cheerful ride around the track to the delight of the students. It was a fun-filled day that encouraged physical development, co-operation and confidence. The joy and laughter shared while riding together created lasting memories and brought our Pre-Primary community closer.
Karateka Giuliano Gerin Shines on the World Stage
At Crawford International Bedfordview, we proudly celebrate the outstanding achievement of Giuliano Gerin, one of our spirited and dedicated Grade 9 students, who has once again proven that greatness is not just something you strive for, it’s something you carry within.
Giuliano recently represented South Africa at the prestigious Kimura Shukokai Karate World Championships in Helsinki, Finland, and with discipline, courage, and heart, he earned a bronze medal in the Cadet Boys Lightweight Kumite division, officially placing him 3rd in the world in his category. Even more remarkably, Giuliano has retained his global ranking.
To represent South Africa on international stage is an honour few ever get to experience. To do so with the humility, strength, and passion that Giuliano has shown speaks volumes of the calibre of this young athlete. He embodies the fighting spirit of a samurai, the grit of a true South African, and the resilience that lives in our DNA.
As his school community, we stand in awe of his determination and commend him for balancing his academic responsibilities with his demanding training schedule. Giuliano, we are incredibly proud of you. You carry the heartbeat of South Africa and the Crawford spirit wherever you go.
