Friendship Day in the Pre-Primary
On 13 February, our Pre-Primary celebrated Valentine’s Day in a special way by focusing on what truly matters – friendship. The children came dressed in beautiful shades of red, pink and white, filling our classrooms with colour and excitement. We renamed the occasion Friendship Day to highlight kindness, connection and caring for one another.
Although the weather did not allow us to enjoy our picnic outdoors, it did not dampen our spirits. Instead, we gathered together in the Little Atelier, where the children laid out their picnic blankets and shared their snacks with great joy. It was heartwarming to see them sitting with their friends, sharing food, laughing together and strengthening their bonds. A simple change of venue became a wonderful reminder that friendship can be celebrated anywhere.
Exec Collab Day
Recently, Crawford International Bedfordview hosted the first of its kind “Exec Collaboration Day” where our first group of the executive committee met with the executive committee of Crawford International Sandton. The idea behind the event was to form bonds and strong alliances with other campuses to promote collaboration, mutual implementation of strategies and to build lasting legacies across campuses.
The day started with a hearty breakfast enjoyed at SETTEBELLO restaurant where the ice was broken and the conversations commenced. The students got to know each other on a more personal level, sharing details about themselves, chatting about mutual friends and reflecting on past grades. After breakfast, the students all joined Mr. Joubert and Mr. Bauchoo in the Hub for a warm welcome where Mr Joubert briefly spoke about the leadership crisis that the world is currently experiencing, and the trust that we are placing in our execs to make the world a better place for all - starting internally at school with leadership qualities like integrity, honesty, communication skills, self-awareness, empathy and compassion.
Following this, the floor was opened into a question-and-answer session where the execs of CIB have compiled a list of most important questions to ask CIS executives, since we are a growing school and this is our first Executive group. This “Q and A” session lasted for an hour, before our Executive Committee took the executive committee of CIS on a campus tour.
Upon returning, the students participated in a conductive strategising session about events, fundraising, the responsibilities of the executive. It was an extremely productive day for all students involved, and very constructive for laying a solid foundation for the future of student leadership in CIB. The day started with students as colleagues, but we do believe that strong friendships and bonds were formed. We thank Crawford International Sandton College for making time to come out to us on a Saturday, and we hope to see them soon for a follow up.
Empowering Our Future Leaders: Trulife Leadership Week
This week, our Grade 6 and 7 students took a bold step toward personal growth by participating in the True-Life Leadership programme. It wasn’t just a break from the classroom; it was an intensive, hands-on experience designed to help students discover their unique strengths and the power of teamwork.
Through a series of interactive workshops and "real-world" challenges, our seniors explored what it actually means to lead in the 21st century.
Core Pillars of the Programme
The True-Life curriculum focuses on three essential areas of development:
Self-Awareness: Understanding personal values, identifying strengths, and building the confidence to speak up.
Collaborative Problem-Solving: Learning that the best solutions often come from listening to others and navigating group dynamics.
Ethical Decision-Making: Encouraging students to consider the "bigger picture" and how their choices impact their community.
Highlights from the Week
The energy on campus was palpable as students moved from "indoor theory" to "outdoor action."
The Communication Challenge: Groups had to navigate complex obstacles using only verbal cues, highlighting the importance of clear, empathetic instruction.
The Innovation Lab: Small teams worked together to brainstorm solutions for local community issues, proving that you’re never too young to make a difference.
"Leadership is not about being in charge. It is about taking care of those in your charge." This sentiment echoed through the halls as students supported one another through every task.
Why This Matters
As our Grade 6s prepare for their final year of primary school and our Grade 7s look toward high school, these "soft skills" are more important than ever. We aren't just teaching them to be good students; we are helping them become resilient, thoughtful, and proactive young citizens.
A huge thank you to the True-Life facilitators for their energy and to our students for diving in headfirst.
Valentines Social
Our school Valentine’s Dance Social was a huge success! The evening was filled with music, laughter and unforgettable memories. Students came together to celebrate friendship and love in a safe and joyful environment.
This event, organised in support of our Grade 12 Matric 2026 Dance, was made possible through the dedication of our Executive Committee, the guidance of our Grade Head, and the support of our teachers behind the scenes - this wouldn’t have been possible without you.
The dance showed what our school community can achieve when we work together. We are proud of our leaders and grateful to everyone who attended and supported the fundraiser. Well done to all involved and we look forward to creating more amazing memories with everyone.
