Model United Nations (MUN)
Our school’s participation in Model United Nations (MUN) this year marked an exciting and successful beginning. Our first fixture took place on the 14th of March, where our delegates represented five of the fifteen nations present, namely Venezuela, Nigeria, Syria, the United States of America, and Brazil. Despite this being our first time at such an event, the students approached the experience with enthusiasm and determination.
For this MUN, our delegates discussed the controversy between digital surveillance versus national security in the age of cyber warfare. One of the challenges faced by delegates is that they need to represent their nation according to that country’s current politics, policies, and legislation. This requires an objective awareness of current affairs and research into different national policies. Despite having only one practice session, they conducted thorough research and worked hard to present their assigned countries’ positions accurately and confidently. Experiences like these are essential for developing skills in public speaking, critical and strategic thinking, empathy, and diplomacy. Furthermore, such experiences are fundamental in preparing our youth for the challenges of leadership and in understanding how to navigate and improve existing global systems, something that I would argue the world needs more now than in previous years.
One of the highlights of our participation was that our delegates representing Nigeria were the only nation able to pass their motion, a great achievement for a first-time team. In addition, one of our students from the Brazilian delegation received the Most Distinguished Delegate award, recognising their outstanding performance, leadership, and contribution to debates.
Overall, our first MUN experience was a great success. It not only showcased the talent and potential of our students but also inspired many to become more involved in global issues. We are proud of what we have achieved in our first term and look forward to participating again in the future, aiming for even greater success.

Pre-Primary
Mother Earth Day
The second term began on a wonderfully positive note, with happy children returning to school, ready to inquire, explore and engage in new learning experiences. It has been a busy and meaningful start to the term, filled with opportunities for our students to develop as caring, knowledgeable and active participants in their learning journeys.
In alignment with our focus on well-being and developing balanced individuals within the IB PYP framework, we acknowledged International World Health Day. Although the official date is 7 April, we celebrated this important day on 17 April. This global initiative, led by the World Health Organisation (WHO), highlights that good health is a fundamental human right and encourages communities to make informed choices about healthy living.
Our Pre-Primary students participated in a special assembly centred around what it means to be healthy and strong. Through discussion and shared ideas, they explored how daily choices impact their well-being. The children then took part in an active lap along the inside boundary walls, reinforcing the importance of movement and physical activity. To conclude, they enjoyed healthy orange slices and juice, further promoting mindful choices around nutrition.
On 22 April, we celebrated International Mother Earth Day, connecting strongly with the PYP’s emphasis on developing internationally minded and environmentally responsible citizens. Our students arrived dressed in green and blue, symbolising their connection to the Earth. They repeated their Earth Day Pledge and engaged in a variety of hands-on learning experiences that deepened their understanding of caring for our planet. These activities encouraged them to reflect on their role as young change-makers and how their actions can contribute to a more sustainable future.
We also took time on 23 April to celebrate our young sports participants. This special recognition acknowledged students who demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm by participating in their chosen activities more than 80% of the time. Most of our children received certificates, celebrating not only participation but also perseverance and dedication. These moments contribute to building confidence and fostering a love for an active lifestyle.
During Drama, our Little Actors stepped into the spotlight and became true Mini Movie Stars. The children began with a red-carpet warm-up where they strutted confidently, waved to their “fans,” and struck fabulous poses like real celebrities. They also explored a range of emotions while walking the red carpet, expressing excited, shocked, happy and silly feelings. This playful experience supported their confidence, creativity and ability to communicate ideas and emotions, strengthening their development as expressive and confident communicators within the PYP.
April has truly been a month of growth, reflection and celebration. We look forward to continuing to nurture curiosity, resilience and a strong sense of community as the term progresses.

The Dream Life" Budget Challenge: Grade 7s Get Business-Savvy
Our Grade 7 Economic Management Science students have officially stepped into the professional world with the Dream Life" Budget Challenge. Taking on the roles of Junior Content Creators, the students were tasked with managing a monthly income and balancing their very own financial books. From categorizing "non-negotiable" fixed expenses to making tough calls on variable "wants," they have been navigating the real-world complexities of financial literacy.
The excitement reached a fever pitch when they were hit with "Life Happens" surprise cards—forcing them to adapt to everything from viral video bonuses to unexpected tech disasters. It has been a thrill to watch them apply critical thinking and grit to ensure they reach their savings goals while keeping their budgets in the green.
