Earth Day at Crawford International Bedfordview
Crawford International Bedfordview marked Earth Day by engaging with the WESSA theme, Biodiversity and Nature. The day began with an assembly featuring a dance performance to Michael Jackson’s Earth Song, followed by a group dance to a rap beat.
Each phase contributed meaningfully:
Pre-Primary
Children took part in garden mindfulness, picked flowers for classroom vases, and participated in a tree-hugging activity.
Foundation Phase
Learners explored the school grounds through a nature scavenger hunt.
Intermediate and Senior Phases
Students built bird feeders from recycled materials to help reduce bird interference during lunch.
College
Senior learners took part in the "Filth to Fashion" challenge, designing garments using waste items to promote sustainability.
The day encouraged awareness, creativity and environmental responsibility across the school.
Leadership Training at Crawford International Bedfordview
Leadership development forms part of the learning journey at Crawford International Bedfordview. Through initiatives like the NEXT GEN Global Leadership Summit (GLS), leadership training is linked to our academic pillars: inquiry-based learning, conceptual understanding, real-world application and global perspective.
The GLS and Student Leadership Programme focus on skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, emotional awareness and adaptability. These are key to navigating both academic and real-life situations.
By encouraging student agency, students are supported to identify their strengths, set goals and take an active role in school and community life. The result is confident, responsible individuals prepared to lead with integrity and purpose.
Science Sparks Wonder
Our Intermediate and Senior Phase students recently enjoyed a Science Show that explored the world of electricity. Through a series of experiments and demonstrations, students learned about the properties of electric current, its ability to produce light and sound, its magnetic power, and the sparks that caught everyone’s attention. The show was not just entertainment but a valuable learning experience, bringing concepts to life in a way that was both memorable and inspiring. The excitement on our students' faces reflected their curiosity and growing interest in science. From the hum of electric currents to the flashes of energy, the event reminded us of all of the forces at work in our daily lives. We are proud to provide opportunities like these that inspire a passion for STEM subjects and encourage our students to explore the world through scientific inquiry.
