First Day of School in Grade 0000
We are so excited to welcome our youngest learners to the Grade 0000 class. During their first days, the students created handprint artwork to celebrate the start of their school journey and their special place in our classroom community.
This activity supported sensory exploration, self-expression and helped the learners feel safe, settled, and proud of their work. We look forward to a happy year of learning, play and growing together.
First Day of School in Grade 000
A very big, happy welcome to our precious Grade 000 children! We are so excited to have our little students at school and to begin this special journey together. Our classrooms are filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of opportunities to learn, play and grow.
We look forward to a wonderful year filled with new friendships, lots of fun, happy discoveries and tiny feet ready for big adventures. Welcome back – we are so glad you’re here.
First Day of School in Grade 00
Our first day of school was filled with smiles, curiosity, and excitement as our Grade 00 children stepped into a new year of discovery.
The children settled into their classrooms, explored new learning spaces, and began forming friendships through play and meaningful interactions. It was a wonderful beginning to what promises to be an enriching learning journey for all.
First Day of School in Grade 0
Welcome to Grade 0! The first few days have been filled with excitement, laughter and a gentle settling-in as we begin our journey together.
The students have enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and making new ones while learning about our classroom, playground and routines. Learning has unfolded naturally as we have spent time getting to know one another, forming our names, numbers, exploring shapes and drawing self-portraits.
We have also been talking about the power of our words and how the way we speak to others can make a positive difference. Through discussion and creative activities, the children explored the idea “Change your words, change your world” by sharing kind, respectful and thoughtful words that help build a caring classroom community.
It has been a lovely start to the year, and the Grade 0 teachers are so proud of how well the students have settled in. We are looking forward to a wonderful year together.
Preparatory
Foundation Phase Assembly Highlights
At today's Foundation Phase assembly, we shared the story The Little Girl Who Made a Million Mistakes. The message of the story reminded our children that mistakes are a natural and important part of learning, they help build confidence, resilience and bravery. We encouraged our learners to keep trying, even when something feels difficult, and to remember that every mistake is a step towards growth.
We also proudly celebrated our Brave and Kind Spots of the Week.
Congratulations to:
- Likhanyile – Grade 1F
- Hannah – Grade 2W
- Tiyanah – Grade 3R
These students were recognised for showing kindness, courage, and compassion within our school community values we continue to nurture every day.
Perceptual rotations and Provocations
Our Academic Support Team and Classroom Assistants have set up literacy provocations and perceptual learning stations for our Grade 1 students.

Welcoming Our Future 2027 Grade 8s to the College
On Tuesday, 27 and Wednesday, 28 January, we were delighted to welcome our Grade 7 visitors to the Crawford Sandton campus. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to experience the vibrant spirit of our College firsthand.
Our Grade 11 students served as exceptional ambassadors, proudly showcasing the areas of the College they enjoy most and sharing valuable insights into academic life, sports, culture, and leadership opportunities. The Grade 7s also had the chance to ask questions about student involvement, daily routines, and what makes Crawford such a special community.
A heartfelt thank you goes to our Grade 11 leaders for their enthusiasm and commitment. We hope our Grade 7 guests left feeling inspired, welcomed, and excited about their future at Crawford Sandton.
