Mathematical Concepts to Real-World
In Grade 1, the students have been developing their understanding of time through a hands-on and engaging unit. They explored both analogue and digital clocks, learning to confidently tell the time to the hour, half past, and quarter past. To consolidate their learning, students created their own clocks, which allowed them to apply their new skills in a creative and meaningful way. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they connect mathematical concepts to real-world experiences.
Celebration of Different Cultures and Traditions
For the Grade 2’s, our school hall came alive with colour, music and delicious aromas as we held our “Celebration of Different Cultures and Traditions” Learning Journey. This event marked the conclusion of our unit on Celebrations and what a truly meaningful finale it was! Students proudly shared the cultural and religious celebrations that are special to them and their families. Dressed in traditional clothing and surrounded by beautifully prepared displays, they showcased everything from Diwali to Eid to Christmas, and many more celebrations in between.
There were vibrant posters, cherished objects and decorations, traditional foods to sample, and heartfelt stories that sparked curiosity, respect, and thoughtful conversations among students, teachers, and visiting parents. This event was not only a celebration of diversity but also a powerful reminder of the richness and unity that exists within our school community. We are so proud of our students for embracing this journey with such enthusiasm, openness, and respect.
Grade 3s Backpack of Goodness
In Grade 3, as part of their Unit of Inquiry, Where We Are in Place and Time, the students took part in a meaningful activity called the Backpack of Goodness. Each student designed a backpack filled with symbols of values like kindness, honesty, perseverance, and empathy. They explored how these values help real-life explorers and reflected on how they use them in their own lives. The activity ended with a class agreement to carry these values with them each day — a simple but powerful reminder of how values guide us on life’s journey. We can already see the Grade 3’s putting these values into action!
Dance League
Dance League is a platform that allows students to showcase their talent in street dance within the South African school system. The Dance Sport Federation launched the Dance Sports School League (DSSL) to address the need for a formally recognised platform to showcase the many talented dancers. Through the association with Dance Sport SA, the DSSL students will now obtain school and provincial colours in dance. The provincial competition is due to commence in June, and we wish them all the very best for the DSSL IPT competition. The inter-school finals were hosted and won by Crawford International North Coast Preparatory.
Mother’s Day Celebration
The Pre-Primary had the absolute pleasure of celebrating some of the most important people in our children’s lives, our mothers and the special women who support and love them every day. The morning was filled with joy, connection, and creativity as our little ones proudly shared a beautiful morning of painting, laughter, and a relaxed picnic with their moms. Seeing the smiles on both the children’s and moms’ faces was truly heartwarming and a reminder of how meaningful these shared moments are.
Mother’s Day at College
The College celebrated the incredible Mother’s in our lives with a warm and creative morning of Doodle and Coffee, it was a beautiful gathering filled with smiles, laughter and appreciation.
