The reception year, frequently referred to as “Grade R” is undisputedly one of the most formative years of a child’s educational journey. During this year children begin to foster positive academic dispositions inadvertently cultivating a desire for life-long learning.
An inquiry-based approach, emphasizing curiosity and exploration, ensures active engagement and critical thinking. It promotes holistic development, empowers independent thinkers, and cultivates a desire for continuous knowledge acquisition, driving academic excellence in the future. Through the utilisation of an inquiry-based approach to learning, children’s innate curiosity is capitalised. It is argued that a well-structured learning environment rich in educational resources makes provision for stimulating and responsive engagements.
